Art Against Assault Meets Asheville, NC
With gratitude to a grant from the Pollination Project, I’ll be visiting Asheville, NC next month for the next stop of my tour with Art Against Assault! The trip will include a presentation of the JARRING III books at Downtown Books & News, and a performance entitled “Judge[me]nts” with local artist Michelle Fugate at the Crow & Quill. A book arts workshop is also in the works! Check back for more information!
JARRING III PRESENTATION – June 10th, 2014 6pm – 7pm: Join me at Downtown Books & News for a presentation of the JARRING III books: a set of 3 letterpress, handmade books in an edition of 50 that share the stories of 22 survivors of sexual assault to gain funds for survivor resources. I’ll be giving an artist’s talk about the books and presenting handling copies in a reading room for you to experience. Donations will be accepted at the door through Art Against Assault and letterpress posters & broadsides will be available for purchase with funds benefiting local sexual assault survivor resources.
JUDGE[ME]NTS PERFORMANCE – June 13th, 2014 5pm (doors) 6pm (performance): Local artist Michelle Fugate and I will be debuting a new piece entitled Judge[me]nts at the Crow & Quill exploring what happens when private views of the female body are made public. Donations for local sexual assault survivor resources will be accepted at the door. An artists’ book containing a photo documentation of the performance can be pre-ordered at the event or online through the Art Against Assault website. All proceeds from book orders will go towards donations for local sexual assault survivor resources.
